Admissions
Pathfinder Village is a year-round, private, residential community licensed by the New York State Office of Mental Retardation and Developmental Disabilities, the New York State Education Department, and the New York State Health Department. It is licensed for 87 residents for long-term placement, and is governed by a Board of Directors.
Many families are unable to adequately meet the multitude of educational, social and medical needs of a loved one who has Down syndrome. Pathfinder Village offers a focused program of individualized health care, daily school sessions, work opportunities, continuing education programs, spiritual activities, athletics, and recreational programs. Many programs take place outside of the Village, other active programs are offered in our beautiful village and offer peer interaction. Our goal is to have each resident realize fulfillment, gain in independence, and to experience life to the fullest.
Pathfinder Village admits children and adults, age 5 or older, who have a primary diagnosis of Down syndrome and who are self-preserving. People of any sex, color, race, creed or national origin are eligible for admission. The admissions process may be initiated at any time of the year: all inquiries are kept strictly confidential.
