Welcome to Pathfinder. Pathfinder Village is a place where each life finds meaning. We set the bar for our programs, services and care high. The result is a home for men, women and children with Down syndrome where the quality of life of each individual is what we desire for all our loved ones. The Pathfinder Experience requires an enthusiastic, competent and passionate staff. The staff includes men and women who have an extraordinary commitment to caring for and supporting the residents who live here. But great staff is not enough. We are grateful for the support we have from the families of residents. The bond between families and staff is strong. This extended family embraces the loved one in a web of support, encouragement and expectation. Indeed, it takes a whole village and a great family to provide a life of meaning. As partners with the families of the residents we take great interest in the joys and daily experiences of our friends. My role as the Chief Executive Officer is to support and encourage the residents, families and staff to work as a team. I am pleased to say they do. This teamwork results in wondrous things. The Pathfinder Soccer Team has won two of the past four State Special Olympics soccer tournaments and finished second in another. What joy when the team, their coaches and the family members in attendance are able to experience the big smiles, high fives and sense of satisfaction! The ordinary rhythm of our lives here also reveals the magic of Pathfinder Village. Evening meals with friends, the changing of the seasons, family visits and special events all work their way in this beautiful place. In the end it is the absence of loneliness that wins the day. Jim, who can enjoy his friends even though his parents have passed, Casey who teases and shares with his housemates, Joe who beams when he deposits his weekly earnings from a supported job, and Andrew who travels home from vacation enjoying a day of uninterrupted time with his Dad are examples of how we triumph over loneliness The Pathfinder Experience is special. Families, loved ones, and those of us who serve are joined in the common goal of achieving a full and rich life.
