Job Title:                    Residential Aide (Shift 8-3 and 3-11)

Summary:

The 8-3 and 3-11 Residential Aide is responsible for the overall supervision and well-being of individuals residing at Pathfinder Village.  By providing the least restrictive environment, the Residential Aides allow each individual to grow at their own pace in conjunction with other programs offered.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

·         Direct supervision of all residents within the home/activity/outing.

·         Work on goals/ongoing services with residents.  Using approved instruction methods.

·         Monitor behaviors/diets.

·         Data-taking goals/behavior/medications.

·         Medication administration/documentation.

·         Documentation as assigned.

·         Supervision/assistance of residents within the residence.  Care of their belongings, personal hygiene, and eating.

·         Promote independence, inclusion, individuality, productivity, and self-determination for residents.

·         Meal preparation/diets/supper.

·         Cleaning: general vacuuming, appliances, floors, dishes as needed.

·         Supervise/assistance (hands-on as needed with bathing, teeth brushing.)

·         Clothing care: assistance with residents putting clothes away, washing out soiled clothing.

·         Attend meetings, case reviews, and staff development as assigned.

·         Clean razors.

·         Start laundry.

·         Attend/participate in activities as assigned.

·         Prepare/supervise breakfast as needed.

·         Change bed linens (Sat.) and remake beds.

·         Remove trash.

·         Personal care of residents (cleaning ears, cut/trim nails, etc).

·         Care of sick residents, taking temps, etc.

·         Shovel all necessary sidewalks and parking area.

·         Must be available to work days, evenings or overnights, and weekends.

·         Responsible for all other duties as assigned by the Residential Director, Director of Program Services, and/or Chief Executive Officer.

·        Maintain strict confidentiality in accordance with established agency policies and applicable state and federal regulations.

Education and/or Experience:

High school diploma or G.E.D.

 

Language Skills:

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.  Ability to write simple correspondence.  Ability to effectively present information one-on-one and in small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

 

Mathematical Skills:

Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's.  Ability to perform these operations using units of American money, and weight, volume, and distance measurement.

 

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one- or two-step instructions.  Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables.

 

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

Valid NYS driver's license

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel, and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and taste or smell.  The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

 

Work Environment:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
